Banquet song is popular in Menyuan County, Qinghai Province, which is directly related to the migration of Hui people to Menyuan. According to the old people's recollection, the banquet song has a history of 300 years.

Banquet music is derived from the name of "Yanyue" in the court of Song Dynasty. It is mainly sung at wedding banquet and accompanied by actions. Therefore, it is also known as "banquet dance" and "Caiqu". The main contents include congratulatory speech, ballad, Wugeng song, dazuobian, Sanqu and so on. The speech describes the national origin, which is often used in wedding ceremony and blessing; the ballad, also known as "Da Zhuan", is the core part of the banquet song; the Wugeng song is mainly about Wugeng, which is lively and lyrical; the argument, also known as "disturb", is interlaced with the banquet song and dance, which is a form of singing with national characteristics; the Sanqu is mostly in minor, with free and flexible structure, covering almost all the people in Northwest China Between minor.
