Xuanbi is a kind of brush, named after Xuanzhou. It plays an important role in Contemporary Chinese brush with its unique manufacturing technology and performance.

Xuanzhou, the birthplace of Xuanbi, is located in the mountainous area of Southern Anhui Province. Rabbit hair produced locally is the main raw material for Xuanbi. In Tang Dynasty, Xuanzhou used rabbit Zihao to make brush. In the second year of Tianbao (743), Xuanzhou was listed as a tribute. As a result, Xuanzhou became the center of brush making in China and famous all over the world. In the Song Dynasty, Xuanbi's production skills were improving day by day, famous workers came out in large numbers, and its reputation was growing day by day. At the end of Song Dynasty and the beginning of Yuan Dynasty, with frequent wars, the production of Xuanbi declined gradually, and some Xuanbi craftsmen fled to Huizhou, Jiangsu and Zhejiang, which led to the rapid rise of Zhejiang Hubi. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Xuanbi technique flourished again. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Xuanzhou local government actively organized the production of Xuanbi. The Xuanbi of "santu", "Sanmao" and other brands won the titles of high-quality products of the provincial and ministerial departments, and also won the gold medal. Xuanbi production has played a very good role in promoting the development of local economy.
