Kazakh costumes have distinctive national characteristics, which are mainly spread in Ili, Tacheng, Altay and other places of Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, as well as in Balikun Kazakh Autonomous County, Mulei Kazakh Autonomous County and other Kazakh inhabited areas.
Kazakh costumes are developed on the basis of ancient Wusun, wak, Naiman, keleyi, tureke and other tribal or clan costumes. They are exquisite in material selection, reasonable in cutting, gorgeous in color and various in variety. The colors contain the meaning of auspiciousness and blessing. Sewing, embroidery and fine processing of ornaments also reflect the distinctive Kazakh national characteristics. Since ancient times, the Kazakh people have lived a nomadic life of animal husbandry. In order to adapt to the needs of nomadic migration and the climate of mountain grassland, their costumes are mostly made of animal skin, animal skin and various fabrics by hand.
Kazakh costumes show Kazakh people's intelligence and aesthetic taste. Inheriting and carrying forward Kazakh costumes tradition is conducive to enriching the art treasure house of the Chinese nation, strengthening the cultural exchanges between Chinese ethnic minorities and other countries in the world, and further deepening the study of the history of national costumes, crafts and aesthetics.
