Since ancient times, the Korean people have regarded respecting the elderly as an important criterion in their family and even social life. Huajia ceremony is an important life ritual held by the Korean people for the 60 year old. It evolved from the custom of birthday and respect for the elderly, formed between the middle of the 17th century and the middle of the 18th century, and mainly spread in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture and the Korean inhabited areas in Northeast China.
On the birthday of the elderly of Korean nationality, their children will hold a banquet for them, invite their relatives and neighbors to gather together to express their gratitude for their parents' kindness. Birthday is the basic ceremony of Huajia ceremony. The banquet is full of candy, fish, cakes and wine. Huajia old man sits in the center of the banquet, male left and female right, and receives people's birthday together with his relatives and neighbors.
