Brief introduction of Genghis Khan ceremony:
Applicant: Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
Genghis Khan's mausoleum is the place where the great historical man Genghis Khan's spirit was worshiped. It is located in horosum, jinhuoluo banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (formerly YIKEZHAO League). It has unique Genghis Khan's traditional sacrificial activities. After Genghis Khan died in 1227, he was buried in secret according to the custom at that time. In order to commemorate their most outstanding leader, the Mongols established the "eight white rooms" (eight movable white yurts) of Genghis Khan's mausoleum in the Mobei plateau to collect Genghis Khan's relics and offer them in the coffin of the "eight white rooms".
Genghis Khan's sacrifice is held once a day, and the special memorial ceremony is held more than 60 times a year. Genghis Khan's sacrifice mainly expresses the worship of immortality, ancestors and heroes. In the sacrifice, the ancient Mongolian sacrifice, fire sacrifice, milk sacrifice, wine sacrifice, song sacrifice and other forms are reproduced. Many distinctive precious sacrificial utensils show the grassland people's artistic aesthetic concept of nature and animals.
Darhute is the guardian tribe of Genghis Khan's mausoleum. In the past 800 years, Genghis Khan has been worshipped for generations, which makes Genghis Khan's memorial completely retain the original appearance of Mongolian emperor's sacrificial ceremony since the 13th century, and become a national cultural heritage with unique form, rich content and profound connotation.
Genghis Khan Festival condenses the national feelings of the Mongolian people and is the witness of the continuity of Mongolian culture. It is of great significance to protect this activity to maintain the uniqueness of Mongolian culture.
