Jiang'an is located in the south of Sichuan, where the climate is warm and humid, suitable for bamboo growth. The quantity and variety of bamboo have become the resource conditions for local people to survive, and also provide an important material basis for the production and development of bamboo spring technology in Jiang'an.

Jiangan bamboo spring craft has a long history, and it was prosperous in Zhengde period of Ming Dynasty. In 1915, Jiang An's work "flower basket" won the winning prize at the Panama International Exposition, which began to go to the world and become famous at home and abroad. From the founding of the people's Republic of China to the 1980s, Jiangan bamboo spring technology entered a turning point and revival period, and has won many national, provincial and ministerial awards. Jiang'an bamboo spring products include bamboo spring, bamboo chopsticks, bamboo tube, bamboo root carving, bamboo weaving, bamboo decoration and so on. Their shapes and carvings not only retain the charm of Chinese calligraphy and painting, but also show the unique skills of national crafts. It pursues vivid and freehand brushwork, naturally reveals the aesthetic experience and taste from the people, and shows the typical cultural characteristics of Chinese folk art. At the same time, its emergence and development are closely related to daily life, showing distinct characteristics of the times and society from time to time.

The inheritance pedigree of Jiangan bamboo spring craft is more than four or five dynasties, and the artists are all over 50 years old. At present, there are only six Zhuhuang workshops in the local area, and the development is slow and difficult. Jiangan bamboo spring craft is in a critical situation, which needs to be rescued and protected.
