Introduction to Miao sister Festival
Applicant: Taijiang County, Guizhou Province
Taijiang Miao sister Festival is a traditional festival of the Miao people in laotun and Shidong areas of Taijiang county. It is held from March 15 to 17 of the lunar calendar every year. At that time, young men and women of Miao nationality will put on their festival costumes and gather in Rongjiang, Yangjia and Pianzhai to celebrate this traditional festival with national characteristics. The Miao sister festival in Taijiang is called "Nong GA Liang" in Miao language. It takes young women as the center, and its main activities are to show songs and dances, costumes, travel directions, eat sister's meals and exchange Keepsake between young men and women. The festival has a large scale and rich and unique contents.
Miao sister Festival has a long history, as a folk custom, love and marriage, social way of inheritance. It's an important ritual to have dinner with my sister. According to the local people, I ate my sister's dinner to prevent moths from biting me. Sister meal is also the keepsake that girls give to lovers to express their feelings, which is the most important symbol of the festival. Fishing for fish and shrimp in the field is one of my sister's activities. A girl from one stockade and a young man from another stockade make an appointment to find her lover by fishing for fish and shrimp and making love. Stepping on drums is an important way for the whole community to participate in festival activities. With their parents' elaborate dress, the girls gather at the drum farm to step on drums. From the drum farm, we can see whose costumes are gorgeous and whose silver ornaments are beautiful and colorful. Miao people show their dress culture in this way. In the evening, young men and women sing to each other and make love. The man asks the woman for her sister's dinner, and the girls hide keepsakes in her sister's dinner to express their different feelings towards the man. At the same time, it is also a stage for people in the community to visit relatives and friends, for cultural entertainment, and for social exchanges. It is also a link for people to unite and strengthen unity within the nation.
