Rongchang pottery is a kind of utensils and utensils made of Yayu clay by the people in Anfu street, Rongchang County, Chongqing. Rongchang pottery industry rose in the Song Dynasty and has a history of more than 800 years.

The main raw material of Rongchang pottery matrix is the unique Jurassic sedimentary clay shale, which can be divided into red and white. After firing, the carcass is ochre red or ivory white. The carcass is light and hard, which can be compared with porcelain. Represented by "clay fine goods" (unglazed) and "glaze goods", the pottery produced includes four categories: daily pottery, packaging pottery, arts and crafts pottery, and garden building pottery. Its production process includes more than 20 processes, including mud selection, mud drying, mud milling, mud mixing, slurry passing, mud stepping, mud kneading, billet making, billet drying, polishing, engraving, glazing, polishing, kiln loading, kiln spotting, kiln fumigation, kiln firing, kiln viewing, kiln closing, kiln discharging and inspection. Rongchang pottery, known as "thin body, bright glaze, clear sound" reputation, is one of China's four famous pottery.

All along, Rongchang pottery is not only people's daily utensils, but also high-value works of art. "Ni Jing goods" have beautiful natural color, simple and elegant; "glazes goods" are decorated with various kinds of colored glazes, with lustrous glaze, simple and steady, concise and generous; the underglaze decoration is rich in freehand brushwork of traditional Chinese painting, with strong national characteristics.

At present, there is a sharp decrease in the number of employees in Rongchang pottery industry, and there is no successor. Many precious ceramic varieties are almost lost. Therefore, it is urgent to rescue and protect the traditional techniques of Rongchang pottery production.
