Tibetan weaving and cross stitch embroidery craft (hereinafter referred to as "Tibetan weaving and embroidery craft") is a traditional craft with strong national characteristics and distinct regional characteristics formed by Jiarong Tibetan people for thousands of years in order to adapt to the local special geographical environment and climate conditions, make full use of local resources, and constantly innovate and absorb Han cross stitch embroidery craft.
According to the "bone spinning wheel" found in the Neolithic site of Eryi in danbahan, the textile technology in Jiarong area began as early as the Neolithic age more than 4500 years ago. In the later historical development, on the one hand, the ancestors of Jiarong Tibetan relied on the local rich animal husbandry resources of Tibetan goats and arrow hemp crop resources, as well as weaving technology to process and produce wool and hemp fabrics with Jiarong regional characteristics; on the other hand, through exchanges with the mainland, they obtained all kinds of cotton fabrics related to life.
Tibetan embroidery technology is mainly inherited by family (mother daughter inheritance) and mass (collective) inheritance. Embroidery technology plays a very important role in the life of Jiarong Tibetans, and it is also a highly dependent livelihood of Jiarong Tibetans.
The colorful costumes of Jiarong women embody the exquisite skills of Tibetan traditional embroidery. Whether it's the embroidered Headkerchief on the head or the colorful belt tightly tied around the waist, whether it's the elegant cape on the shoulders or the embroidered shoes on the feet during the festival, they are shining with the wisdom of Jiarong women everywhere and the fragrance of Jiarong culture everywhere.
Under the background of today's world economic integration and the impact of modern industrial civilization, Tibetan traditional embroidery technology, like other intangible cultural heritage, is facing severe challenges. First, the inheritance of its technology is blocked to some extent. Second, some special techniques are facing the risk of losing transmission, which need to be rescued and protected.
