Introduction to Miao embroidery
Applicant: Kaili City, Guizhou Province
Miao Duihua embroidery, also known as "Dui embroidery" and "Gan Liang" in Miao language, is a unique ornament of Miao women's clothing. It has been popular in Kaili City, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou Province for a long time.
The northeast of Kaili has a subtropical humid climate. There are a large number of plants in the mountains. There are neem, Dongqing, mushroom, taro and other plants used for dye production all the year round. Mulberry trees grow very luxuriantly here. This natural condition provides a material basis for the emergence and development of Duihua embroidery.
The production of flower embroidery can be divided into four steps. Firstly, the main tools used are bamboo mat, large iron pot and bamboo basket. Secondly, the silk is woven into silk, and the tools used include spinning wheel and loom. Secondly, the silk is dyed and hardened, and the main tools are dyed silk and VAT. Finally, the silk is piled into flower embroidery ornaments and sewed on clothes The main tools used in this production process are wooden boxes and needles used to hold silk pieces. Piled flower embroidery is suitable for the expression of geometric patterns and abstract body pictures. It forms pictures with multiple triangles, with neat and regular pictures and strong sense of subjectivity. Duihua embroidery is a fine embroidery craft of the Miao nationality. It is the crystallization of the wisdom of the Miao people and the "living fossil" of the history of the Miao nationality.
The Miao nationality's pile flower embroidery production is fine, the craft is difficult, takes a long time, the economic value is relatively low, now Kaili rural young women mostly go out to work, in life more casual clothes or Han clothing, pile flower embroidery thus lost the survival of the reality of the soil, there is a break in the craft. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the rescue and protection of Miao's Duihua embroidery as soon as possible, so that this important folk art can continue to develop and spread for a long time.
