Introduction to paper cutting (Zhuanghe paper cutting)
Applicant: Zhuanghe City, Liaoning Province
Zhuanghe paper cutting is a folk art handed down from generation to generation in Zhuanghe City, the southern end of Liaodong Peninsula. According to research, this art form was popular in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and flourished in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. Since the mid-20th century, Zhuanghe paper-cut has been further developed.
Zhuanghe paper-cut has a wide range of themes and unique ideas. It adopts the local popular artistic expression techniques and forms a variety of rich styles closely combined with folk life. Among them, the window flower and wall flower can decorate the home environment and set off the festive atmosphere. Fireworks are important decorations for birthday, wedding and other life rituals, while the lantern can be used to decorate all kinds of festival lanterns. Zhuanghe paper-cut is antique, exaggerated and vivid. It pays attention to the relationship between black and white and the treatment of complexity and simplicity. Its cutting and carving skills and knife style paper-cut techniques have reached a high level. Its representative works include "Qilin sending off children", "mouse getting married", "Chiji Doll", "carp playing with lotus", "magpie climbing plum", "lotus seed", "dragon and Phoenix presenting auspicious", "immediately Marquis" and "vase".
Zhuanghe paper-cut not only reflects the commonness of traditional folk culture, but also shows a unique regional style, maintaining a relatively complete traditional charm, which has important folklore and folk art research value. At present, as the traditional folk customs gradually fade out of the modern social life, the survival and development space of Zhuanghe paper-cut is shrinking, and there is no successor. The only 20 people who are good at paper-cut are 70 or 80 years old. Zhuanghe paper-cut is on the verge of being lost and is in urgent need of rescue.
