Introduction to shadow play (Taishan shadow play)
Applicant: Tai'an City, Shandong Province
Taishan shadow play is one of the important representatives of Shandong shadow play. Since the Ming Dynasty, its performance activities have been very frequent. Since the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, six generations have inherited this excellent folk art.
Taishan shadow play has a rich variety of tunes. It not only inherits the "motiao" of early Shandong shadow play, but also widely absorbs other popular folk opera tunes in Tai'an, forming a unique system of tunes. The characters in Taishan shadow puppet show mostly draw lessons from Taishan folk paper cutting and traditional opera facial makeup, and gradually form a series of facial makeup with distinctive regional characteristics. Taishan shadow play is a typical oral folk art. There is no script for the performance, and the actors rely on memory to perform. The repertoire is very rich, especially the series of Taishan shigandang.
Taishan shadow puppet artists retained the traditional shadow sculpture, performance skills and oral script in the inheritance, and innovated and developed on this basis. For example, the famous performer fan Zheng'an extensively absorbed Xihe Dagu, Shandong sibushu, shibuxian and other performance skills, and created a unique shadow play performance skill that can be manipulated, Sung and accompanied at the same time, which has become one of the most important parts of Chinese shadow play Absolutely. Taishan shadow play is an important part of Taishan culture. It integrates Taian folk art, music and opera, and has important reference value in the study of folk customs and local history and culture.
