Introduction to Errentai (East Road Errentai)

Donglu Errentai is a folk art form integrating rap, dance and performance. It is commonly known as "Tiao Tiao Er" and "things" by the world. It was formed in the early years of the Republic of China and began to be called "Donglu Errentai" in the 1950s. Wulanchabu city is located to the east of Zhuozi Mountain in Inner Mongolia, Zhangbei, Shangyi and Kangbao counties in Hebei Province, Datong and Yanggao counties in Shanxi Province.

There are also "wave school" and "rhyme school". Most of its subjects reflect the life and love of the local working people. The language is easy to understand and full of strong local flavor and life interest. There are more than 70 traditional plays that are often performed, such as "little cattle", "selling sesame sugar", "going back to Guannan", "selling bowls" and so on.

After the 1950s, Donglu Errentai revived; in the 1960s, the traditional operas zoukouwai and Buyao donkey first appeared on the stage of the autonomous region; in the 1970s and 1980s, small operas flourished and professional troupes were set up.
