Introduction to Pingju:

Applicant: Beijing China Pingju Theater

Pingju, formerly known as "Tiao Tiao Xi" and "Luozi Xi", is also known as "pingqiang Bangzi Xi", which is called "Pingxi" for short. In 1935, Pingju was officially named "Pingju". It is popular in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Northeast China and has a broad mass base. Around 1910, on the basis of the counterpart "lianhualuo" in luanzhou, Eastern Hebei Province, the performers of Tiao opera, led by Cheng Zhaocai, absorbed the singing music and performing arts of northeast Errenzhuan, Peking Opera, shadow play and Dagu, and used a full set of Hebei Bangzi instruments to accompany their performances, forming the basic style of Pingju opera. In the process of practice, the emerging art of Pingju has been developing and becoming mature.

Cheng Zhaocai is the founder of Pingju opera and the first playwright of Pingju opera. His representative works such as "widow Ma opens a shop", "flower as a medium" and "Yang Sanjie complains" have become the classic repertoire of Pingju opera. Pingju music belongs to banqiang style, including Jianban, Daban, daanban, xiaoanban, sanchui, Daoban, Duoban, liushuiban, etc. Accompaniment instruments are divided into three categories: Latan, percussion and wind instruments. Latan instruments include Banhu, erhu and Sanxian, percussion instruments include ban, Digu, Tanggu, Digong and Daguo, and wind instruments include dizi and suona. Pingju's aria, which is based on the music of Beijing Opera and Bangzi, can be divided into male and female tunes.

Chinese Pingju academy inherits the tradition of West Pingju and East Pingju, retains a lot of Beijing traditional culture in its performance, and inherits, develops and forms such artistic schools as Bai (Yushuang), Xin (Fengxia), Wei (Rongyuan), sun (Defu) and MA (TAI). Tianjin Pingju theater is also strong, and has a good inheritance and development of the four schools of Li (Jinshun), Liu (Cuixia), Bai (Yushuang) and AI (Lianjun).

With the changes of the times, the influence of Pingju is greatly weakened, and measures should be taken to protect and support it.
