Shangdang Bayin association is widely spread in six counties (cities and districts) of Jincheng City in the southeast of Shanxi Province. Bayin club is a music group of folk organizations, which mainly uses eight kinds of musical instruments, such as drum, Gong, cymbal, Sheng, Xiao, flute and pipe, so it is called Bayin club.

The main performance venues of Shangdang Bayin Festival are ancient temple meeting, festival celebration, street stage performance, wedding and funeral performance, etc. The main playing instruments of Bayin club are suona, Sheng, kouzizi and dumb tune for playing; treble Huhu, baritone Huhu, laohuhu, Banhu, erhu, Yangqin and Erxian for playing; Laogu, Tonggu, biangu, Shouban, gongs and Bangzi for striking. There are 31 instrumental Divertimento, such as Da Shi fan, Xiao Shi fan and Shi Yang Jing.

Shangdang Bayin association was formed and developed in the yuan and Ming Dynasties, and matured and flourished in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. After 1949, the organization of bayinhui in Jincheng was more popular and prosperous. During the "Cultural Revolution", the performance of Bayin club was forbidden and almost declined. After 1980, the Bayin Club revived and flourished. In recent years, at the invitation of the Ministry of culture, Shangdang Bayin club has performed in Zhongnanhai and the Great Hall of the people. Shangdang Bayin association also won gold medal in Shanxi International gongs and drums Festival and national "Stars Award" competition.

At present, the Shanghai Party's eight music club, which is mainly composed of non-governmental organizations, has aging artists and few inheritors. Many things with artistic value are losing day by day, which are in urgent need of rescue, protection, development and promotion.
