Introduction to Manchu Folktales:
Application area or unit: Liaoning Federation of literary and art circles Folk Artists Association
Manchu folk stories are mainly distributed in the eastern Liaoning Manchu cultural circle, which refers to the vast area of Changbai Mountain, which is called "dongshanli" by the Manchu people in Liaoshen. Liaodong Manchu folk story is a broad cultural concept, including Liaodong Manchu myth, legend, story and other prose oral narrative style, such as "Swan Fairy", "bukuli Yongshun", "tiannv bath bow pool" and so on. It tells the story of the youngest and most beautiful daughter of the God of heaven, who was pregnant and gave birth to Aixin (the daughter of gold) because she ate Zhuguo (or Hongguo) from Zhuque (or magpie) Jueluo bukuliyunshun is the ancestor of Manchu. The story of "Sun Moon peak" is about the ancient times, when the world was dead. The youngest daughter of the emperor of heaven threw her left eye into the sky and turned it into the sun; threw her right eye into the sky and turned it into the moon; threw a string of pearls around her neck into the sky and turned it into a star; and the fairy turned it into a mountain, the sun moon peak, in order to save the world. Manchu folktales originated in the period when Manchu turned from fishing and hunting to farming. They are in close contact with the Han culture and integrate with each other. They have the cultural characteristics of Manchu and Han mixed.
Manchu folktales in Eastern Liaoning are the collective memory of Manchu society and the cultural wealth created by Manchu people, which have important historical, cultural and scientific research value. In recent years, due to the modern mass media's replacement of the traditional way of information transmission by word of mouth, and the death of the older generation of storytellers who inherited the ancient Manchu narrative, modern Manchu people's historical memory of their national tradition and culture has become increasingly blurred, so it is necessary to protect the inheritors of Manchu folk stories in Eastern Liaoning.
