History of construction
Yuexi county is under the jurisdiction of Wu County since it was established in 221 BC. in the third year of Kaiping of Houliang (909), Yuexi belonged to Wujiang county. in the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Hudong and Huxi were set up in the territory. Yuexi town was established in 1929. At the beginning of 1946, Huxi Township and Yuehan Township were under the jurisdiction of the city. In October, Huxi and Yuexi were merged into Yuexi township. In February 1948, Yuexi Township and Hudong Township were merged into Yuexi Township, which was under the jurisdiction of the city. The township office is located in Xiatang street, Yuexi town. On April 27, 1949, Yuexi was liberated and Yuexi township was under the jurisdiction of Chengxiang District of Wujiang county. On September 12, 1950, it returned to the jurisdiction of Wu County. In 1994, Yuexi town was established. in August 2001, Yuexi town and Changqiao town merged to form a new Changqiao Town, and set up an office in Yuexi (its jurisdiction and functions remain unchanged). In March 2002, Yuexi town was transferred from Changqiao town to Wuzhong Economic Development Zone. In March 2004, Yuexi sub district office was set up under the jurisdiction of Wuzhong District.

Geology and geomorphology
Yuexi tectonics is composed of Huanglong Formation of limestone system and Maoshan group of Devonian System in the southeast of Mudu syncline. It can be seen in Qizishan, yaofengshan and Hengshan belts. The Devonian strata of the Qizishan system are compact and hard, and are not easy to be weathered and denuded. The geology is dominated by clay, and the natural bearing capacity is 18-24t / m2, which belongs to non earthquake area.

Yuexi hills and mountains are all made of quartzite. In 1972, Quarrying and paving were started in yangmeiyuan (at the junction with hengjingwang mountain), and then a stone factory was built to supply block stone, stone, sand and pond slag for collective and civil buildings. In 1997, due to the protection of scenic spots along Yuehu Road, the stone factory was closed.
