Yuqi street is located in the northwest of Huishan District, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province. It is adjacent to Xicheng canal in the East, Qianzhou street and Qingyang Town in Jiangyin City, Luoshe Town in the south, Henglin, Hengshanqiao and Furong Town in Wujin District of Changzhou City in the West and North.

It used to be the highland in Furong lake, like the jade in the lake, so it got its name. Yuqi town was set up in 1934, named after the residence. From October 1945 to April 1949, Yuqi autonomous experimental township was established. Yuqi district was established in 1949, and Yuqi township was established in 1957. Yuqi commune was established in 1958, and the township was changed in 1983 and the town in 1987. In 1996, it covers an area of 39.7 square kilometers and has a population of 45000. It has jurisdiction over 17 administrative villages including Wumu, huangniba, Wanli, Minzhu, Lishe, Shuguang, Yudong, Yuqi, Yuxi, Rongdong, Ronghu, Rongnan, Ronglian, Rongzhong, Rongxin, Rongfeng and Rongxi, and Yuqi neighborhood committee.

It borders on Xicheng canal in the East, Qianzhou street and Qingyang Town in Jiangyin City, Luoshe Town in the south, Henglin, Hengshanqiao and Furong Town in Wujin District of Changzhou City in the West and North. It is 9.6 kilometers long from north to South and 6.5 kilometers wide from east to west, with a total area of 39.7 square kilometers and a population of 44000. It has jurisdiction over 17 administrative villages in Yuqi, including one neighborhood committee, Wumu, huangniba, Wanli, Lishe, Minzhu, Shuguang, Yudong, Yuqi, Yuxi, Rongdong, Ronghu, Rongnan, Ronglian, Rongzhong, Rongxin, Rongfeng and Rongxi. The town government is located at 102 Xiyu Road, 16 kilometers west of the district government.

In 2009, Yuqi town was abolished and Yuqi street was established. In March 2011, Wanli village committee of Yuqi street was transferred to Qianzhou street for management. After adjustment, the streets of Yuqi Street are 36.60 square kilometers, registered residence population is 42 thousand and 700, 11 village committees and 3 neighborhood committees are managed.
