Caohezhang town
Caohezhang Town, subordinate to Benxi Manchu Autonomous County, Benxi City, Liaoning Province, is located in the southern mountainous area of Benxi Manchu Autonomous County. It is adjacent to Saima Town, Fengcheng City, Dandong in the East, caohezhang town in the south, Nanfen District in the West and small towns in the north. It covers an area of 374.54 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population of Cao River town was 11516.
In July 1958, caohezhang district was abolished and Maji commune was established. In September 1961, it was renamed caohezhang commune. In August 1985, it was renamed caohezhang Manchu Township. In November 1987, caohezhang Manchu town was changed. In September 1989, after the establishment of Benxi Manchu Autonomous County, caohezhang Manchu town was renamed caohezhang town. As of June 2020, caohezhang town has jurisdiction over one community and seven administrative villages, and its people's government is stationed in caohezhang village.
In 2018, caohezhang town has 10 industrial enterprises and 26 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
Historical evolution
During the period of the Republic of China, four townships in caohezhang District belonged to saisaiji, the third district of Benxi county. After the establishment of the county, caohezhang district belongs to Benxi county.
In July 1958, caohezhang district was abolished and Maji commune was established.
In September 1961, it was renamed caohezhang commune.
In 1968, the Revolutionary Committee of caohezhang commune was established.
In 1980, the Revolutionary Committee of the commune was changed into the Management Committee of the commune.
In January 1984, caohezhang commune was transformed into caohezhang township.
In August 1985, it was renamed caohezhang Manchu Township.
In November 1987, caohezhang Manchu town was changed.
In September 1989, after the establishment of Benxi Manchu Autonomous County, caohezhang Manchu town was renamed caohezhang town.

At the end of 2011, caohezhang town had jurisdiction over seven villagers' committees: Taoyu, Cuifang, Wafang, jiangjiabao, caohezhang, tongjiabao and hujiabao.

Caohezhang town is high in the north and low in the West. The mountains in caohezhang town belong to tiechashan branch of Changbai Mountain. There are two peaks more than 1000 meters. The highest peak in the territory is located in the monk hat in Songjia street, with an altitude of 1234.4 meters; the lowest point is located in Cuifang xiweizi, at the exit of Caohe, with an altitude of 327.5 meters.

hydrology
Caohezhang town originates from Caohe on the south slope of watershed, flows southward through caohezhang and other four villages, then leaves the country, enters the boundary of Caohe City, and finally flows into Yalu River. Xiaotang river flows northward, out of Guanmen mountain, into the small city boundary, and then into Taizi River, with a length of 15 kilometers.
