Yaotun Township, belonging to Sunwu County, Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province, is located in the east of Sunwu County. It is adjacent to Xunhe town of Xunke County in the East, Qunshan Township in the south, Sunwu town and woniuhe Township in the west, and Yanjiang Manchu Daur Township in the north. Historical evolution
Yaotun township's name comes from yaotun village's name. Yaotun is located on the left bank of Xunhe river. It was originally called "dongxunbeilatun". Because it is located between zengjiapu (formerly called xixunbeilatun) and wujiapu, it is used to be called "yaotun".
At the end of Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Huiting. Yaotun, zengjiapu, wujiapu and dongwoniuhetun were built around 1900.
In December of 1937, it was transferred to the newly established Sunwu County.
In May 1947, the administrative villages of zengjiapu and yaotun were established.
In May 1948, the second district was set up.
In November 1954, the district system was abolished and yaotun and zengjiapu villages were set up.
In March 1956, the village was divided into townships and yaotun township was set up.
In September 1958, it was changed into the operation area of the people's commune of Sunwu County.
In April 1959, yaotun commune was established after it was changed into County Association.
In April 1965, it took over shanhetun (then called the third squadron) separated from Sunwu town.
In 1972, Hongwang, Hongyue, Beishan and Dongjian were established.
In 1983, the commune was transformed into a township.
