Fuqiang township is under the jurisdiction of Zhaoyuan County. It is located at the northwest end of the county, adjacent to duerbert Mongolian Autonomous County in the north and Nenjiang River in Jilin Province in the West. The township government is 84 kilometers away from the county seat.

Fuqiang township is named after Fuqiang village. Originally under the jurisdiction of Fengnan village, duerbert banner. After the victory of the "93" Anti Japanese war in 1945, it was under the jurisdiction of Guoerluosi rear banner in January 1947, belonging to the eighth district. In March 1956, villages were divided into townships, and Fuqiang township was set up. In April of the same year, it was transferred to Zhaoyuan County. In September 1958, it was incorporated into the gulong people's commune. In 1962, it was set up from Gulong commune. In March 1984, it was changed into Fuqiang township. the whole territory of Fuqiang township is mostly high hills and manling, and the marshes and lakes along the river are rich in soil. The total area of the township is 101.4 square kilometers, with cultivated land of 78000 mu. In 1956, the construction of lidoushan levee eliminated the flood disaster, and in 967, a pumping station was built on the levee, creating conditions for the development of paddy fields and drought resistance, becoming a high-yield agricultural area in the county. The township has jurisdiction over eight villages, including Liqiang, Dage, Fuqiang, Shuanghe, Yongyue, lidoushan, Hebei and Yongqiang. At the end of 1992, the total population of the township was 10400, with the majority of Mongolian people except Han people. The township government is located in Liqiang village. In 2001, Zhaoyuan County abolished Fuqiang Township and merged into Gulong town.
