Maolin town

Maolin town is located in the south of Yongshan County. It is the "South Gate" of Yongshan. It was named after the green mountains and green waters and abundant forest and grain before liberation. It is 135 km away from the county seat and 55 km away from Zhaotong. It is connected with Jing'an township of Zhaotong City and shanggaoqiao township of Daguan County in the East, Sujia Township and Sayu township of Zhaoyang District in the south, Daxing Town and Wuzhai Township in the west, Lianfeng Township, Wanhe Township and Mohan Township in the north.

The town covers an area of 265.67 square kilometers, with the lowest altitude of 1300 meters, the highest altitude of 3055 meters, and the average altitude of 2200 meters. The altitude of the town government is 2260 meters. The terrain is high in the West and low in the East. It slowly rises and falls from Mopan Mountain and jiucainao in Songlin village to the southeast. The relative elevation difference is small. The climate of high mountains is remarkable. The annual average temperature is about 11 ℃, the frost free period is 100-150 days, and the annual rainfall is about 700mm.

The whole town is composed of 7 villager committees, 145 villager groups, 25 Township organs, enterprises and institutions, including Wenshan, lengmi, Yong'an, Xinlin, Maolin, Ganshan and Songlin. There are five ethnic groups, Han, Yi, Miao, Hui and Xie Ni, with a permanent population of 19849 (2017).

In 2003, the total rural economic income of the town was 18.94 million yuan, the per capita net income of farmers was 531 yuan, the total grain output was 9149 tons, and the per capita grain of farmers was 410.8 kg. lush forest, beautiful scenery, natural landscape and ethnic customs, beautiful flowers and plants, thousands of mu of bamboo mountains, thousands of mu of grassland and thousands of mu of forest, and tens of thousands of mu of wetland. Every year, about 400 black necked cranes come here to overwinter. Maolin is one of the "top 100 green townships" in China, and also the provenance base of Pinus armandii in the county. Especially since the implementation of the national "long-term prevention" and "natural forest protection" projects, Maolin people have seized the opportunity to vigorously plant trees and close Hillsides for afforestation. The forest area of the town has reached 200000 mu, with 80000 mu of natural and artificial grassland. It has the natural advantages of planting grass and raising livestock and developing animal husbandry. It is one of the national semi fine wool sheep production bases, and the livestock trading market is active.
