Jiulong street is the seat of the district government and the Mining Bureau. It is the political, economic and cultural center of Nanpiao District. It has jurisdiction over 9 administrative villages, 5 communities and 23 natural villages, with a total area of 90 square kilometers and a permanent population of 26075 (in 2010). There are three ethnic groups: Han, Manchu and Mongolian. The Han nationality accounts for 93.3% of the total population.
