Located in the northernmost part of Hongdong County, Shanxi Province, Zhaocheng commune was established in 1958 and the town was established in 1984. It is adjacent to Xingtang temple in the East, Huozhou city in the north, big locust tree in the South and Dicun Township across Fenhe River in the West. The town has 41 administrative villages with 79437 people (2017), with a total area of 88.41 square kilometers and a cultivated area of 61000 mu.

General situation

Located in the north end of Hongdong County, Shanxi Province, it is adjacent to Xingtang temple in the East, Huozhou city in the north, dahuashu town in the South and Dicun Township across Fenhe River in the West. It was originally the county government of Zhaocheng, but later it was merged with Hongdong, so it was abolished. The town has 41 administrative villages with 80000 people, covering a total area of 88.41 square kilometers and 61 000 mu of arable land. In the south, Tongpu railway and Taiyuan Sanmenxia highway run through the whole town. Zhaocheng's urban construction has begun to take shape, with a town area of about 5.4 square kilometers, forming the urban framework of "three verticals and four horizontals plus outer ring". The "three verticals" are Huohou Road, Kaifa road and North South Street; the "four horizons" are Zhaoke Road, Yong'an street, Ping'an Street and Chang'an Street.
