Gaoxian town is located in the northwest of Quwo County, 7 kilometers away. It is adjacent to Lichun town in the north, Fenhe River and Xiangfen in the west, Fengcheng town in Houma City in the South and Qucun town in the East. Fenhe River winds down from north to south, Fenhe River and Fuhe River pass through from east to west.

Evolution of organizational system

It was named Gaoxian in Ming Dynasty. It got its name because it was located in Gaobu of qufen. Looking up from fenqu, the town is in Gaobu, and overlooking it in the territory, it lies on concave land. Therefore, it is said that "overlooking Mengcheng from afar, you can see Gaoxian from near". During the first liberation in 1945, Comrade Zhang Fan, political commissar of a regiment of our army, died here. He once changed his name to "Zhang Fan town". Later, his original name was restored because of his duplicate name. Gaoxian commune was established in 1959, and the town was established in 1984. In 2001, Gaoxian town and Anju Township were merged into Gaoxian Town, which now has 21 villagers' committees under its jurisdiction.
