Zhonghe Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Danzhou City, Hainan Province, is located in the northwest of Danzhou City. It is connected with Dongcheng Town in the East and Southeast, and Xinzhou town in the West and northwest. The geographical coordinates are 19 ° 44 ′ N and 109 ° 20 ′ E. It is 45 kilometers away from Danzhou City. The total administrative area is 62 square kilometers.
Zhonghe Town, built in the Han Dynasty, is called Gaopo. In 1957, Zhonghe town was established. In 1987, it was changed into a town. Zhonghe town is an ancient city with a long history, including Dongpo academy, ancient city wall, yanlang nunnery site, zhouyamen site, Lize academy site, Ningji temple, Xu ancestral hall and other places of interest. Among them, Dongpo academy and Zhonghe ancient town are listed as national key cultural protection units.

Historical evolution
Zhonghe Town, built in the Han Dynasty, is called Gaopo.
In 622, daner county was changed to Danzhou, and its government was moved from Yilun (now Sandu town) to Gaopo, and its name was changed to Yilun, which is now Zhonghe town.
During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1600-1620), a garrison was set up and troops were stationed. Since then, Danzhou dialect was changed from Danzhou dialect to military dialect in urban areas, and Danzhou dialect was still spoken in surrounding villages.
In 1819, Danzhou was set up as 32 Li, and the "city" was "Zhonghe Li".
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Danzhou was changed into Danxian, and Zhonghe Li was the county governor of Danxian.
In the ninth year of the Republic of China (1920), because of the contradiction in the direction of the river on the edge of the city, the villagers in the nearby villages completely ransacked, "seven or eight hundred people were killed and injured", and Li Zhi, the county governor, absconded.
