Historical evolution
Cao'an town has a long history. According to historical steles, Cao'an built an in the Ming Dynasty and donated it for repair in the Jiachen reign of the reign of Emperor Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty. It is impossible to find out why it was named. At that time, there were two floors of the front and back halls of the whole an, with corridor rooms in the East and the West. The front hall was Mount Tai hall, and the back hall was Guanyin hall. There were statues in the hall. Every year on February 19 of the ancient calendar, there is an endless stream of worshippers. In its heyday, there were more than 20 nuns in the nunnery, owning dozens of mu of land and employing 20 or 30 people every year. Before the Anti Japanese War, there was no shortage of incense. In 1939, when the local people were occupied, most of the nuns took refuge in other villages. There were only a few people left in the nunnery. After the liberation, most of the old nuns died, while the young nuns returned to the secular life. The temples were dilapidated and collapsed, leaving only a few ancient temples beyond recognition. Along with the temple

The two nuns died one after another in the autumn of 1988. The dilapidated temple was demolished in the spring of 1990 and built on the original site as the office building of the people's Government of Caoan town. There are renjiaji in the northeast and zhangjiaji in the southwest of Caoan. During the period of the Republic of China, the markets of renjiaji and Zhangji were relatively prosperous. In 1932, the Kuomintang merged the third and fourth districts of Shouxian County into Caoan district. The district office was set up in caojiaan, and a new market was set up. With the opening of the market on a single day of the lunar calendar, the market trade flourished, and the two episodes of Ren and Zhang gradually declined. Before liberation, Cao'an belonged to Cao'an district and Cao'an township of Shouxian county. After liberation, Cao'an, the township government's residence, still belonged to Cao'an district. In 1958, Dongfanghong commune was abolished and renamed as Dongfanghong commune. In 1965, it was transferred to Changfeng County and belonged to Yanggong district. In 1983, the organization reform abolished Dongfanghong commune and changed it into Cao'an township government. In March 1992, the district was withdrawn and merged with the township to establish Cao'an town. In June 2004, Cao'an town was put under the trust of tianjia'an District of Huainan City with the approval of Guo Han No. 39 document of the State Council. In November 2013, it was transferred from Tianjiaan district to Xiejiaji district for trusteeship.
