Township of Southern Song Dynasty

Nansong township was originally under the jurisdiction of Lijin County, Shandong Province. In 1968, the people's commune of Nansong was established, and the commune was stationed in Nansong village. In July 1984, it was rebuilt into Nansong township. In February 2001, the administrative division was adjusted, and Nansong township was abolished. The township was merged into Beisong Town, and Nansong village became a subordinate village of BeiSong town.

Nansong township is located in the southwest of Lijin County, 11 kilometers away from the county. It faces the Yellow River in the East and southwest, borders Binzhou in the west, dianzi Township and Beisong Township in the north, with a total area of 38.06 square kilometers. It is 11.5 kilometers across the Yellow River. The terrain is high in the West and low in the East. The highest point is 13.5 meters above sea level (Dagu elevation). The Yellow River levee crosses the middle of the township, dividing the township into two parts: North and south. In the south, there are nine natural villages near the river. The soil is rich in red clay, so it is convenient to divert water from the Yellow River for irrigation. Most of the 28 natural villages in the north are sand mounds and natural ditches formed by the breach of the Yellow River. Gongjia Yellow River diversion canal passes through the northeast of the rural area and chuguan River in the northwest, which has good irrigation and drainage conditions.
