Mingxinsi town is located in the southeast of Zizhong County, Sichuan Province, 11.3km away from the county seat, and adjacent to Tuojiang River in the north, covering an area of 38.03km2. The terrain of Mingxinsi town is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The river flows from northwest to Southeast. The highest point in the territory is Gaopo peak, 646.5 meters above sea level; the lowest point is 328 meters above sea level.

The area of the landform is 13.8 square kilometers. It belongs to the section where thick sandstone is exposed, and most of them form square mountain and single side mountain. Due to the special development of vertical fissures and joints of sandstone, water is easy to cut down from the fissures, forming a deep valley. The valley slope is mostly steep rock, which splits vertically to form flat hillock. Other hillocks are round hilltops with gentle slope.

The area of flat deep Hill landform is 28.6 square kilometers, which belongs to the outer edge of the low mountain of Rongwei dome anticline. The landform is a flat deep hill formed by the erosion of Jurassic Ziliujing strata, and the terrain fluctuates greatly.

The landform of low mountain and narrow valley covers an area of 9.1 square kilometers, belonging to dome anticline low mountain. The exposed rock strata in the territory are quartz sandstone and thin coal seam of Triassic Xujiahe formation. After differential weathering, the rocks form the landform of alternating Cen Valley and pull. The mountains and Cen fluctuate greatly, and the valleys are deep and narrow. Many of them are low mountain and narrow valleys or narrow valleys with cliff and steep wall.
