Shanxi Aluminum Plant is located in Hejin City, Shanxi Province. It was planned to be built in 1972, covering a total area of 19.95 square kilometers (km2). It is a key construction project during the period of the sixth, seventh and eighth five year plan. The first phase of the project was started in 1983 and put into operation in 1987. The second phase of the project started in 1986 and was completed and put into operation in 1994. 1、 The total investment of phase II is 5.017 billion yuan, forming a total production capacity of 1.2 million tons of alumina, becoming the largest alumina production enterprise in Asia.
