There are more than 400 gullies and more than 100 high and low peaks. The main peak of staircase mountain is 1083.6 meters above sea level, which is the highest point in the town. The coast of Luohe River is the lowest point in the town, which is 343.6 meters above sea level It's 4100 meters. It has a warm temperate continental monsoon climate with four distinct seasons in spring, summer, autumn and winter. The characteristics are: warm in spring, less rain, hot and dry in summer, continuous rain in autumn, cold and often dry in winter. The climate difference between seasons is large, and the difference between winter and summer is more than 40 ℃. In the middle and last ten days of March, the temperature is the most unstable, and the daily difference is often more than 10 ℃. There are 135 days in winter, 105 days in summer and shorter in spring and autumn. Usually, there are more droughts and less floods. The annual average temperature is 13.7 ℃, the absolute maximum temperature is 42 ℃, the absolute minimum temperature is - 21 ℃, the annual frost free period is 215 days, the average annual precipitation is 606 mm, the average annual relative humidity is 69%, and the average sunshine is 2259 hours. The Luohe River flows from west to East, with a total length of 3 km. Zhangcun stream, Baishui stream, Madian stream, loach stream and ant stream flow into Luohe River from north to south. Lvcun reservoir is a small class I reservoir with a drainage area of 11.8 square kilometers, a dam height of 27 meters and a total storage capacity of 1.81 million cubic meters.
Historical evolution
Madian town was founded in 1958, initially known as Madian commune. It was incorporated into Changshui commune in 1964. It was divided into Madian commune in 1978. In 1984, it was changed into Madian township. In June 2011, it was approved by Henan Provincial Department of civil affairs to withdraw the township and build a town, becoming Madian town.
