Xinglong Town

Xinglong Town, belonging to Jingyang County, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the northwest of the county. It is adjacent to Kou Town and Yunyang town in the East, Qiaodi town and Wangqiao town in the south, Yanxia town of Liquan County across Jinghe River in the west, and Kou Town in the north. The maximum distance from east to west is 22.3 km, and the maximum distance from north to south is 15.6 km, with a total area of 147.6 km.

Historical evolution

In the early Qing Dynasty, people from Shanxi Province began to live here, so it was named shanxizhuang. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, Tu Guanjun, the magistrate of the county, offered sacrifices to the mausoleum during the Qingming period. After this, he changed his name to Xinglong Village with the meaning of prosperity.

Before 1949, it was under the jurisdiction of Baigu, Shiqiao and Yeyu townships.

After 1950, it was under the jurisdiction of six or seven districts.

In 1956, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged into two townships, Baiwang and Xinglong.

In 1958, it was under the jurisdiction of Shiqiao commune.

In 1961, Baiwang commune and Xinglong commune were established.

In May 1984, it was changed into Baiwang and Xinglong townships.

In October 1997, it was changed into Baiwang town and Xingjiang town.

In January 2011, Baiwang town and Xinglong Town merged into Xinglong town.
