Taiping Township is located in the northwest of Jiangkou County, the hinterland of Fanjing Mountain, a National Nature Reserve, with a forest coverage rate of 75.1%. There are Fanjing Mountain, Taiping River scenic spot, and Yunshe Tujia Folk Culture Village, a provincial historical and cultural village. Jiangfan highway and hangrui highway pass through the territory, which is the only way for tourism of Fanjing Shandong line. The total area is 361 square kilometers, the urban planning area is 2.6 square kilometers, and the built-up area is 0.8 square kilometers. The total population is 18009, the built-up area is 3000, and the urbanization rate is 16.65%. In 2012, the gross national product was 144.266 million yuan, the investment in fixed assets was 67.63 million yuan, the disposable income of urban residents was 13800 yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 4975 yuan. In the construction of 100 characteristic demonstration towns in the whole province, we mainly rely on the resources of Fanjing Mountain scenic spot, historical and cultural villages, and strive to build a tourism landscape model town.

The Ministry of housing and urban rural development and other seven ministries and commissions announced the latest batch of 3675 national key towns, Taiping Town in our county is on the list. this selection is a refresh of the list of national key towns since 2004. 136 towns in our province were selected, and 15 towns in the whole city were listed. Taiping town is the only town selected in our county. it is reported that the key towns in China are the key and leading ones in the construction and development of small towns, and the relevant departments in various localities will support them in terms of policies, land and project arrangements in accordance with the requirements of improving quality, saving land and embodying characteristics. Relevant ministries and commissions will study and formulate guidance, establish a dynamic adjustment mechanism, and guide and support its construction and development. The other 14 towns on the city's list are: Bahuang town of Bijiang District, Wanshan town of Wanshan District, Dalong town and Tianping town of Yuping Autonomous County, Benzhuang town and Zhongba town of Shiqian County, Xujiaba town and Tangtou town of Sinan County, Muhuang town of Yinjiang Autonomous County, Jiancha town and Hexing town of Dejiang County, Guanzhou town of Yanhe Autonomous County, Zhaiying town and Mengxi town of Songtao Autonomous County.
