Shidian Township, located in the south of Haiyuan County, Ningxia, is the only suburban township (town) in Haiyuan county. It is about 7.5 km to the county seat. The administrative area is 265.64 square kilometers.

Historical evolution

It was established in 1984. In 1997, with an area of 233 square kilometers and a population of 15000, it has jurisdiction over six administrative villages, namely Shidian, cangwan, Xuping, tianguai, Dachuan and miwan. In 2003, a new administrative village with an administrative area of 259 square kilometers was added to the township, which has jurisdiction over 7 village committees.
