Economic and social development

Founded in January 1981, Huangnibao Yugu Township in Suzhou district is the only ethnic township with a small population in Jiuquan City. The total population of the township is 1687 (2011), including 1050 Yugurs. The implementation of the first Five-Year Plan for the development of ethnic minorities with small population supported by the state from 2006 to 2010 has injected new impetus into the economic and social development of Huangnibao township. In the past five years, the central government, provincial, municipal and district governments have invested 18.81 million yuan in the development of Huangnibao Township, and organized and implemented more than 20 projects, including government office buildings, school teaching buildings, student apartments, village oil roads, farmland and water conservancy.
