Gaochuan town belongs to Xixiang County, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province. Located in the southeast of Xixiang County, it borders Xihe Town, Shiquan County, Ankang City in the East, WULIBA town in the south, baimianxia town in the West and cha town in the north. Historical evolution

Fushui River in the territory is located in the high-lying Bashan mountains, along both sides of the river to form a channel zone, known as "Gaochuan", hence the name.

In 1950, shanggaochuan, zhonggaochuan and xiagaochuan townships were established.

In 1959, Gaochuan commune was established.

In 1996, after withdrawing the district and merging the town, Gaochuan town was merged from shanggaochuan Township, xiagaochuan Township and Bailin township.

In 1984, shanggaochuan, xiagaochuan and Bolin townships were established.
