Mianda township is located in the northernmost part of karuo District, Changdu City, with an average altitude of 3900 meters. It is one of the main animal husbandry townships in karuo district.

the township is connected with Shengda Township, Jiangda County, Tibet in the East, laduo Township, Tibet in the south, Chaiwei Township, Tibet in the west, and Yushu City, Qinghai Province in the north and northeast. It covers an area of 1085.23 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 12 administrative villages and 93 natural villages (villagers' groups). The township has a large area of virgin forest, rich in resources. In recent years, mianda township has effectively carried out the construction of "well-off village" in pastoral areas, and a new type of small town integrating residence, school, culture, commerce, grass-roots credit cooperatives, health, animal husbandry and veterinary has been initially established.
