There are two small high mountain lakes in Malutang. It is said that groups of red deer used to come here to drink, so it is called Malutang. It belonged to banguoma in the Qing Dynasty, zhenkang Township in the period of the Republic of China, zhenkang Township in 1950, the fourth district from 1951 to 1952, Dasongshu district from 1953 to 1970, the commune was set up from Dasongshu in 1971, the commune was changed into district in 1984, and the district was changed into Township in 1988. geographical environment
Malutang township government is stationed in laojiezi village, 500 meters northwest of Malutang, 106 kilometers northwest of the county. It borders zeheixiang in the East, sayingpan town in the south, Jiaoxi Township in the west, Dasongshu Township in the north and Huidong County across the river. The township government is located at an altitude of 2750 meters, which is the highest Township in Kunming, with a total land area of 222.2 square kilometers. The rural terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. It is known as "T-shaped concave on the top of a high mountain". Most of the villages live on gentle slopes and depressions, with towering mountains.
