It crosses huangmaogeng in the north and borders Lami township of Leibo County; it faces Heluo township of Zhaojue County across Liutong River in the South; it borders Erqi Township in the West; and it borders leyue Township in the East. The township covers an area of 78 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 10 villages and 44 groups.

Township government resident azimalo village, 70 kilometers away from the county. The township is high in the north and low in the south, with the highest altitude of 3455 meters and the lowest altitude of 1169 meters. It governs the villages of azimalo, Liuhong, liuhongnaituo, daljiagu, dalluomo, Kaha, pomoeze, tebojue, jijuegubu and Erge, with a total of 1134 households and 4881 people, including 4856 Yi and 25 Han. The population density is 62.58 per square kilometer.

The township was built on January 10, 1957. In October 1958, the Township People's Committee was established. In May 1968, the Township Reform Committee was established. In February 1972, it was converted into a commune. On July 12, 1981, the commune reform committee was changed into the management committee. In July 1984, the township government was established.

In 1990, the total agricultural output value of the township was 1.3299 million yuan (474000 yuan for agriculture, 172900 yuan for forestry, 502000 yuan for animal husbandry, 181000 yuan for sideline and fishery); the area of cultivated land was 5969 mu, and the total grain output was 1.263 million kg. The main products are corn, potato, soybean, walnut, pepper, peanut, tung oil and citrus. There are 1285 yellow cattle, 4 Buffalo, 91 horses, 4320 pigs, 2861 goats and 4278 sheep. There are 1 bank credit union, 5 rural primary schools with 172 students, 1 health center and 1 medical staff in the township.
