Waibei Township

Huili County is located in the southwest of Sichuan Province, at the south end of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, in the hinterland of Panzhihua resources development zone. It is adjacent to Panzhihua in the west, Kunming City and Chuxiong Prefecture in Yunnan Province in the south, and it is the hub of Sichuan and Yunnan. Since ancient times, Huili County has been an important place for trade and trade between Southwest Sichuan and West Yunnan and South Asia. It is a necessary fortress of the ancient Silk Road, known as the "key of Sichuan and Yunnan". The county has jurisdiction over 50 townships and 304 administrative villages, covering an area of 4522 square kilometers with a total population of 433000.

In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province agreed to abolish Waibei Township and put the administrative areas of the former Waibei Township and longgou village in Baiguowan Township under the jurisdiction of Chengbei street, where the Chengbei Street office is located at No.1 Qianxing street.

Geography

The township government is 8 kilometers away from the county seat, with coordinates of 102 degrees 15 minutes east longitude and 26 degrees 44 minutes north latitude. The highest altitude in the territory is 3586 meters (longjiu mountain), and the lowest is 1800 meters (pusifang). It borders Yimen town in the north, Laojie Township in the south, Taiping Hengshan Township in the East and Pingshan Township in Miyi County in the West.

Historical evolution

Before 1950, it belonged to Waibei town. In 1951, it set up Waibei township. In 1961, it changed to Waibei commune. In 1983, it restored Waibei township. in December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province agreed to abolish Waibei Township and put the administrative areas of the former Waibei Township and longgou village of Baiguowan Township under the jurisdiction of Chengbei street, where the office is located at No.1 Qianxing street.
