Shangri la town
Shangri la town is located 71 kilometers south of Daocheng County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is connected with Chitu and Julong in the north, Geka in the south, Mengzi and eryatong in the East and Shuiluo in Muli County in the West. It covers an area of 736 square kilometers. The township is located in gayong village, 28 ° 33 ′ n, 100 ° 20 ′ e, with an altitude of 2980 meters. It has jurisdiction over gayong and Rencun villages, three villager committees, 16 villager groups and 25 natural villages. There is a beautiful Yading National Nature Reserve, 34 kilometers away from Yading scenic area, 25 kilometers away from Echu mountain scenic area, and more than 60 kilometers away from kastigao valley scenic area.
In April 2020, Shangri La town was named as the advanced township in Sichuan Province in implementing the Rural Revitalization Strategy in 2019.

Shangri la town is the core of "Shangri La eco-tourism area in China", and the "soul of Shangri La". It is an international boutique tourism town with perfect natural scenery, strong Kangba customs, superior ecological environment and perfect tourism service facilities. It is the supporting point of Daocheng tourism and the central town in the southern area of Daocheng. Shangri la town is located in the south of Daocheng County. The altitude of most areas is about 2700-3500 meters, and the altitude of market town is about 2800 meters. There are mountains in the countryside. In addition to the three snow capped mountains of xiannairi, yangmaiyong and shanuoduoji, the main peaks in the rural area are mount e'weng and mount wachong. The main rivers in the territory are the Russian River and the red earth river. The town has 3560 people (2017), mainly Tibetan.
Historical evolution
On January 25, 2002, riwa township was renamed Shangri La township.
On February 10, 2009, the people's Government of Sichuan Province (No. 6, Chuanfu civil administration) agreed to withdraw Shangri La Township from Daocheng County and build it into a town. Shangri la township was abolished and a new Shangri La town was built. The people's Government of the town was stationed in gayong village and governed the administrative region of the former Shangri La township.
Honors
In April 2020, Shangri La town was named as the advanced township in Sichuan Province in implementing the Rural Revitalization Strategy in 2019.
On July 29, 2020, it was named "2017-2019 cycle National Health township" by the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee.
On December 28, 2020, it was awarded the title of "the fifth civilized village in Sichuan Province".
