Historical evolution

In the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, tamuchang (now group 5 of renhezhai Village) was first built. In 1747, it was moved to the present site to build the site. It was named after a sandalwood tree on the left side of Yuanguan temple. In 1935, Tamu town was set up, and in 1940, it was changed into a township. In 1952, Hongxing and Jiabai townships were set up in Tanmu township. In 1956, Hongxing and Jiabai townships entered Tanmu township. In 1958, Tamu people's commune was established. In 1963, Hongxing people's commune was set up from Tamu people's commune. In 1983, Tamu people's commune was changed into Tamu township. On November 3, 2001, the town was established. By the end of 2011, it had jurisdiction over 13 villagers' committees and 136 communities, including Renhe Village, Ming'an village, Shishang village, Wuma village, Longwang temple, Taiyang mountain, Jishuitan village, gaoshengqiao village, Jiabai village, Tianjing village, Tiantai temple, shengouzi village and Yangjiaping village. There are six groups in the community neighborhood committee of the town. In 2019, the town will be withdrawn and merged into Maliu town.
