Dinosaur township (also known as Shilong) is located 23 kilometers south of Yuechi County. The main line of Nanyue (Nanchong Yuechi) provincial highway runs through the whole area. It has convenient transportation, rich products and simple and hospitable people. The township covers an area of 23.8 square kilometers and has more than 12900 people. In September 1992, in the process of removing districts and building towns, Youxi district was set as an independent township. It borders Youxi town in the East, Chang'an Township in the south, Tongxing town in the West and Qinxi mountains in the north. Its superior geographical position gives birth to its coexistence of strength and beauty, and the combination of ancient and modern.

Sericulture, fruit, pig and fishery have become the main economic industries. Many owners have settled down in dinosaur one after another. Several bases including huanghuali, walnut, chestnut, chicken farm, medicinal materials and an ecological park have been built and are under construction. On December 11, 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province issued a document to approve the township zoning adjustment plan of Yuechi County, which will abolish dinosaur Township and transfer it to Youxi town. on December 26, 2019, the people's Government of new Youxi town was officially listed to govern the original Youxi Town, dinosaur Township and Ping'an township.
