Shoubao Township

Shoubao Township belongs to Qianwei County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province. It is located in the north of Qianwei County, 24 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Luocheng town in the East, Dingwen town in the south, JinSu, Huishan and other towns in Wutongqiao District in the West and northwest, and Aojia town and Jinshan Town in Wutongqiao District in the north. In 2017, the area was 40.1 square kilometers, with 9423 permanent residents.

In 2015, Shoubao township has jurisdiction over 11 villages including Liuba, Yanba, Shuangcheng, Sanwan, Youfang, Dapo, Wangjia, dengba, Huajin, Wenchang and Sifang, 108 villager groups and one community of Shoubao farm.

In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province decided to abolish Shoubao Township and Aojia town and establish Shoubao Town, with the former Shoubao Township and Aojia town as the administrative region of Shoubao town.

Historical evolution

During the reign of Emperor Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty, it was originally named yongningchang. It is said that because most of the long-lived and centenarians were on the field, the magistrate at that time renamed the field shoubaochang. Shoubao township was established in the Republic of China.

In June 1951, it was divided into Guangxing township (Gaofeng township), Bafang township (Qingshui township), Renmin Township and Sihe township (Sanxi township).

In February 1956, it was merged into Gaofeng township (Gaofeng, Qingshui, Renmin).

In September 1958, Dingwen people's commune was established by merging with Furong and Wuyu townships.

In July 1959, Shoubao commune was established.

In August 1984, Shoubao commune was renamed Shoubao township.

In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province decided to abolish Shoubao Township and Aojia town and establish Shoubao Town, with the former Shoubao Township and Aojia town as the administrative region of Shoubao town.
