Maying township is located in the middle and high mountain area in the north of Wangcang County. It is 38 kilometers away from the county seat, 13 kilometers away from Guangba trunk line, bordering Yanzi Township and Shuanghui town in the north, Gaoyang town in the East, Baishui town in the south, Yuanba district and Shizhong District in the West. The township covers an area of 55.5 square kilometers.

General situation

It has jurisdiction over 9 administrative villages and 64 agricultural cooperatives with a total population of 4492 (2017). 98% of the areas under the jurisdiction of the township are high mountains, with steep mountains and obvious three-dimensional climate, with an altitude of 600-1400m. The remarkable characteristics are: four distinct seasons, large temperature difference between day and night, annual average temperature of 16.2 ℃, maximum temperature of 38.7 ℃, and minimum temperature of - 7.2 ℃. The frost free period is 242 days, and the annual rainfall is about 1000 mm.

In recent years, with the implementation of ecological project, Qinba project, natural forest protection project and returning farmland to forest, the forest coverage rate in the territory has increased year by year, with beautiful mountains and rivers, and wild animals such as monkey, wild boar, ape, grey sheep have also appeared in the forest. There are many natural and cultural landscapes in the township, such as the cactus and Doudou mountain, the banzhulin reservoir, the banzhulin weir, the inverted siphon project and the Guanyin pond.

While doing a good job in infrastructure construction, the township also focuses on local special industries and strives to increase farmers' income. We should make full use of the rich and high-quality limestone resources in the territory, vigorously develop township and village collective enterprises, and form an annual output of 200000 tons of Qingshi. There are about 300 workers in this line in the township.

Sericulture is the traditional agriculture of the township. The township has developed 400000 good mulberry plants with an annual output of about 30000 kg of cocoons. It is the most important sericulture base in Baishui district. In order to fully reflect the pillar position of sericulture industry in traditional agriculture, the township has formulated the development ideas of comprehensively promoting labor-saving sericulture technology, developing large households and forming sericulture scale benefits.

Relying on the local high-quality natural environment and resources, the township vigorously develops the traditional Chinese medicine industry and dried fruit industry. On the basis of large-scale production of Eucommia ulmoides Oliv, 30000 Ginkgo biloba, 40000 Castanea mollissima and 5000 improved walnut are growing well. It will become an important channel for the masses to increase their income in the future. The development plan of Dioscorea zingiberensis and Gastrodia elata was also formulated.
