Lingxian township is located in the northeast of Jianyang City, east of Longquan mountains, on both sides of Tuojiang River, 25 kilometers away from Jiancheng. Lingxian is bounded by Hongyuan Township and Zhuangxi Township in the East, Yangma town in the south, Zhou hometown in the West and Wufeng town in Jintang County in the north. Tuojiang River runs through its territory from north to south, and divides Lingxian Township into two parts: Hedong and Hexi. It covers an area of 22.71 square kilometers and has a population of 7184 (2017). Through railway and highway, Tuojiang River is navigable. Township enterprises have rubber, pulp, chemical plants. Agricultural production of rice, wheat, corn, sweet potato, and cotton, rapeseed, sugarcane. The breeding industry is mainly pig and goat. Baimamiao village has been identified as a demonstration village of FAO's special plan for food security.

Regionalization and evolution

Lingxian township is under the jurisdiction of Jianyang City, Ziyang City, Sichuan Province. Lingxian township was set up in 1935, the commune was changed in 1962, the township was restored in 1983, the township was withdrawn in 1992, and the township was restored again in 1995. It has jurisdiction over eight village committees, namely yinjiaci, Baima temple, li'eryuan, yanjiaci, jinyuchi, Ciyun Temple, Xianjin and Lingxian.

In lingxianjing, the cultivated land in Hedong is mainly Pingba, while the slope land in Hexi is more. The hillside land in the township is 5970 mu, accounting for 41.54% of the total cultivated land. As there are 7 large and small irrigation stations, 1 small (2) reservoir, 94 shanpingtang, 2 shiheyan, and 40 km of supporting canal system, 4 villages enjoy gravity irrigation and 3 villages enjoy lift irrigation, 13000 mu of cultivated land can be irrigated, accounting for 90%, of which 6000 mu of irrigated area accounts for 42%.

The total population is 7184 (2017). there are 8 administrative villages and 81 Village (resident) groups in Lingxian district; there are 4375 rural households, including 33 non-agricultural households; the total population is 13032, including 137 non-agricultural households, accounting for 1.05%; there are 7069 rural labors, accounting for 54.24% of the total population, including 4162 agricultural labors, accounting for 58.88% of the total labor force, There are 2937 people from other industries, accounting for 41.12% of the total labor force, and 2606 people from other industries, accounting for 42.87% of the total labor force. The labor income of migrant workers has become a new growth point of local economy. The family planning rate of the township is 93.5%, the natural growth rate of population is less than 2 ‰, and the average life expectancy rises from 40 years before the founding of the people's Republic of China to 70 years.

In December 2019, the reply to the "request for instructions on the adjustment of administrative divisions of some towns (streets) in 15 districts (cities) and counties including Longquanyi District" of Chengdu City cancelled Yangliu street, Shiqiao Town, Yangma Town, Taipingqiao Town, Lingxian Town, zhoujiaxiang town and Shipan Town, and established Shiqiao Street, Chishui street, Shipan street and Yangma street.
