Zhaiya Township

Zhaiya township is located in the east of Jingzhou Miao and Dong Autonomous County, Suining County in the East, Tongdao County in the south, Jiangdong Township in the West and Wenxi Township in the north. It covers an area of 143.55 square kilometers (2017), accounting for 6.2% of the total area of the county.

Zhaiya is rich in resources, with a total area of 143.55 square kilometers (2017). There are 183405 mu of forest land, 736600 cubic meters of standing trees and 101.8 cubic meters of per capita. Forest resources are very rich, which are rare and precious tree species under state key protection, such as Ginkgo biloba, Phoebe, beech, etc.; ornamental tree species include laurel, tetragonal bamboo, etc.; fruits include walnut, kiwifruit, etc.; there are many kinds of mineral resources, such as gold, copper, manganese, oil, etc., with cultivated land area of 10380.38 Mu and water area of 427.82 mu.

Zhaiya township government is located in four new streets of zhaiya village. Before 1978, the commune Party committee and commune reform committee were established. In February 1984, the people's commune system of "the unity of government and society" was abolished, and the township organizational system was restored. The production teams were changed into villages and the production teams into villagers' groups. In March 1985, the Dong and Miao townships were established in zhaiya. In July 1987, due to the establishment of the National Autonomous County, the ethnic township was abolished and changed into the people's government and the Party committee of zhaiya township.
