In the late Warring States period, it belonged to Jiangzhou county.

In 487, it belonged to Dianjiang County.

In the first year of Baoding (561) of the Northern Dynasty and the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Dianjiang County was abolished and Baxian county was established, belonging to the eighth district.
