Lihe Town, belonging to Wanzhou District of Chongqing, is located on the North Bank of the Yangtze River in Wanzhou District. It is adjacent to Gaoliang town in the East, Zhushan Township in the south, Fenshui town in the West and Yuexi town in Kaizhou District in the north, with a total area of 77.17 square kilometers.

In the Qing Dynasty, the area around Lihe town belonged to Wujia of dazhouli; in August 1987, it was changed from Lihe town to Lihe town. Lihe town is named after the people's Government of Lijiahe.

In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the top five in Dazhou.

In 1938, it was established in Shima town. In 1941, it was changed to Shima township.

In October 1958, Shima township was rebuilt into Shima commune.

In April 1981, Shima commune was renamed Lihe commune.

In September 1983, Lihe commune was changed into Lihe township.

In August 1987, Lihe township was changed from township to town.

In October 2004, Gaosheng town was merged into Lihe town.
