Bachou township is located in the northwest of Donglan County, adjacent to Nandan, Tian'e and Fengshan, and nestled by the Hongshui River. It is one of the towns in the reservoir area of Yantan Hydropower Station. There are 143 villager groups in 8 administrative villages, with a total population of more than 14000 at the end of 2003. The township government is more than 50 kilometers away from the county seat. In 2001, the new township was established after the merger of Tangfang Township on the basis of the original bachou township.
